How it Happened: Vols power past Lipscomb 10-0 with home runs & shutout arms

Tennessee returned to normal fashion on the midweek, cruising to the 10-0 victory over Lipscomb in the final tune-up prior to Southeastern Conference play beginning this weekend.

The Vols (15-3) used a five-run second inning to blow the game wide open and the plated another in the fourth and two apiece in the fifth and sixth on the fiery night at the plate. Hunter Ensley, Maui Ahuna and Dylan Drieling all homered in the win as Tennessee managed 11 hits on the night.

Aaron Combs (2-0) is credited with the victory as he was second out of the bullpen and worked a clean 1.2 innings in relief. Chandler Giles (0-2) takes home the loss after allowing four runs on just two-thirds of an inning.

Tennessee begins league play this weekend at Missouri. But how did the 10-0 win over Lipscomb happen? We find out below.

Bottom 2nd: Dylan Drieling walked with two outs and then Hunter Ensley brought him home with a home run to left field. Kavares Tears doubled to right field. Cal Stark walked. Maui Ahuna clears the bases with a three-run home run.

Bottom 4th: Cal Stark doubled with two outs. Maui Ahuna singled up the middle and drove in Christian Scott (pinch-runner).

1 R, 3 H, 0 E, 2 LOB – Score: Tennessee 6-0

Bottom 5th: Zane Denton led off the frame with a double to center field. Dylan Drieling drove him in two batters later on a two-run shot to right field.

2 R, 2 H, 0 E, 2 LOB – Score: Tennessee 8-0

Bottom 6th: Christian Moore kicked things off with a single. Jared Dickey plated him with a double to centerfield. Zane Denton flied out to centerfield, Dickey moved up to third. Griffin Merritt followed with another run-scoring double.
