Tennessee baseball once again a consensus top-10 program among national polls
The Tennessee Vols baseball team has found itself firmly entrenched inside the top-10 in all five national polls following yet another perfect week of conference play.
Tennessee (11-1) swept the field of High Point and Bowling Green in four games last week while third baseman Billy Amick was named SEC Player of the Week in the process. The Vols, who have won 10-straight games- remain at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this week for a pair of midweek bouts with Kansas State (Tuesday) and Southern Indiana (Wednesday) before hosting Illinois over the weekend.
D1 Baseball, the poll Volquest follows, has the Vols at No. 8 for the second-straight week. Tennessee is the fifth-highest ranked SEC squad and come in right in front of Vanderbilt at No. 9. The D1 Baseball top-10 includes Wake Forest, Arkansas, LSU, Florida and TCU in the top-five spots while Oregon State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Clemson round up the top-10.
The USA Today Coaches Poll, which does preseason ranking and then waits until after week two to resume, has the Vols still at No. 8. Perfect Game, which slated the Vols at No. 10 last week, moved Tennessee up three spots to No. 7. Baseball American also has the Vols as No. 7 for the second-straight week.
