How it Happened: Tennessee dominates Ole Miss for 15-3 run-rule game one victory
It was all Tennessee Friday night as the offense came in bunches while AJ Causey was brilliant on the mound during the Vols’ 15-3 run-rule victory over Ole Miss in seven innings for game one of the series.
Tennessee (2-3, 2-2 SEC) plated five runs in the second inning, three in the third, two in the fourth and five more in the sixth to hammer the Rebels (16-7, 2-2 SEC) in the ballgame. The Vols finished scoring the 15 runs off 13 hits while Ole Miss managed just three runs off six hits.
AJ Causey (5-0) earned the win on the mound after tossing 5.2 innings of three-run (two earned) baseball, giving up five hits with six strikeouts and two walks on 94 pitches. Gunnar Dennis (3-1) takes home the loss after allowing 10 runs off nine hits in just 3.2 innings pitched for the Rebels.
Tennessee and Ole Miss return to action Saturday at 6 pm for game two of the series, but first, here’s how it all went down on a Friday for the Volunteers.
