HOOVER, Ala. — For the fifth time in program history, the Tennessee baseball program has earned the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament championship crown after defeating LSU on Sunday afternoon, 4-3 the final score.

The No. 1 ranked Volunteers (50-11) benefitted from a three-run homer from Billy Amick in the third inning to take control of the game and hold off the 11-seeded Tigers (40-21) for the three-run victory. Tennessee wins the SEC Tournament for the fifth time ever and first time since 2022. Just like in 2022, the Vols have swept both the regular season and tournament conference championships.

Lefty Dylan Loy (2-0) earned the victory on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings of relief. Fidel Ulloa (2-2) is the losing pitcher in the ballgame as he allowed three runs off two hits while not officially recording an out in his relief appearance. Kirby Connell pitched 2.2 innings of solid relief while Aaron Combs logged the final two outs of the ballgame, stranding the tying run at second base. Hunter Ensley shined with four hits in the ballgame.

The Vols will now await Selection Monday when the Field of 64 competing for a national championship will be announced at noon eastern time on ESPN2. The expectation is that Tennessee will be the No. 1 overall seed in the field. The NCAA Baseball X account will announce regional host sites on Sunday night at 8:30 pm eastern time – Tennessee will be included on that list.
