How it Happened: Tennessee hammers four homers in series opening 9-3 beatdown of South Carolina
Tennessee fell behind early but never looked back thanks to Christian Moore’s career day as the Vols ran away from South Carolina with a 9-3 win in game one of the Southeastern Conference series.
The top-ranked Vols (44-10, 20-8) saw a pair of home runs from Moore in the victory over No. 24 South Carolina (33-19, 13-15 SEC), as the second baseman now holds the Tennessee record for single season home runs with taters 25 and 26 on the night. Dylan Dreiling and Kavares Tears also hit home runs in the victory – both with men on base.
AJ Causey (10-3) earned the win on the mound tonight after tossing 5.1 innings of relief. The sidewinder gave up two runs off six hits with eight strikeouts on 87 pitches. Ty Good (5-2) took home the loss after surrendering six runs off five hits in four innings of work in the start.
Game 2 of the final regular season series of the year is set for 6:30 pm eastern time on Friday, but first, here’s how it all went down on a Thursday night.
