How it Happened: Tennessee gets its revenge, hammers Golden Eagles 11-1

Tennessee snapped a two-game losing streak to instate foe Tennessee Tech on Tuesday night in midweek action from Lindsey Nelson Stadium, 11-1 the final score in seven innings.

Reese Chapman tallied the run-rule walk off hit in the bottom of the seventh, a two-run ground rule double to right field.

The Vols (22-4) powered behind a six-run fifth inning to plate the 11 runs off 14 hits in the ballgame. The Golden Eagles (13-11) managed only one run off three this in the showcase. Derek Schaefer (2-0) is given the win after pitching a clean 1-2-3 inning in the second. Starter Matt Gelorme (0-1) is the losing pitcher on the night after allowing one run off four hits in three innings of work.  

Tennessee returns to action this weekend for Southeastern Conference play when Georgia comes to town for a three-game set. But first, here’s how it all went down for the Volunteers over a midweek victory of Tennessee Tech.
