How it Happened: Blake Burke powers Tennessee past Charleston Southern, 6-1
Tennessee returned to action this week for the first of two midweek contests with Charleston Southern, winning 6-1 on a Tuesday night.
Zander Sechrist impressed in the start, tossing 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball – allowing just three hits with five strikeouts. Seth Halvorsen came on in relief and picked up the win. Blake Burke was a monster at the plate, driving in five runs and launching his fifth home run of the season.
Tony Vitello was back in the dugout after serving a three-game suspension against Dayton last weekend and transfer shortstop Maui Ahuna made his Tennessee debut and registered his first hit in a Volunteer uniform.

Bottom 4th: Charlie Taylor singled through the left side to begin the inning. Jared Dickey grounded out to first and Taylor moved to second base. Christian Moore flew out to right field and Taylor tagged up to third. Blake Burke came through again with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Taylor from third. Zane Denton followed with a single to put runners at the corners, but Griffin Merritt’s drive to straightaway center field was caught at the wall to bring the inning to a close.

Bottom 6th: Jared Dickey lifted a one-out, solo home run just behind the right field fence. Christian Moore was hit by a pitch. Blake Burke then tallied his fifth home run of the season with a two-run shot to left-center field for his fifth RBI of the day. Zane Denton struck out swinging. Griffin Merritt and Maui Ahuna singled before Cal Stark struck out to end the frame.
