Following an official visit to Tennessee on Monday in Knoxville, infielder Andrew Fischer announced his commitment to the Vols on social media. He becomes the fourth portal commitment for Tennessee this cycle.

UT beat out Florida and Arkansas for the recruiting transfer portal win.

The former Ole Miss third baseman officially entered the transfer portal on the final day it was open on July 2 after being reportedly headed to the portal for a few days prior. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound rising junior will have two years of eligibility remaining and is draft eligible in 2025.

Fischer was named Second-Team All-SEC in 2024 following his first and only year in Oxford where he hit .285 with 20 homers and 57 runs batted in. The hot corner defender struck out 53 times and walked on 35 occasions over 207 at-bats while also logging 10 doubles with a pair of triples. Fischer led the quad in home runs, RBI, hits (59) and was second in runs scored (47).

As a true freshman in 2023 while playing at Duke, the slugger compiled a .289 batting average with 11 home runs and 33 RBI across 173 at-bats. This summer, Fischer is playing for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod League. Over his career, the new Volunteer commit has made 66 appearances at third base and 12 appearances in the outfield. He’s also logged nine appearances at second base in summer ball in 2024.

The transfer portal opened June 3 and remained open through July 2. Eight players entered the transfer portal from Tennessee, a list that includes Camden Bates, Matthew Dallas, Wyatt Evans, Daniel Parris, Derek Schaefer, Robin Villeneuve, Bradke Lohry and 2023 third baseman Zane Denton.

Tennessee picked up a commitment from Junior College pitcher Thomas Crabtree before heading off to Omaha for the College World Series. Right-handed pitcher Tanner Franklin become the first commitment out of the transfer portal from the 2024 cycle last Tuesday for Tennessee. Infielder Gavin Kilen joined the class on Independence Day and first baseman Eric Rataczak committed to Tennessee on Monday.

The Vols now boast four commits, currently, from the transfer portal with the addition of Fischer.
