Tennessee baseball was sent back on the road for Super Regional play, with the NCAA selection committee giving Southern Miss hosting duties for this weekend’s three-game series. The Vols will be the home team for two of the three games, though.
A coin flip on Friday determined which teams would be home and away, given that both teams were No. 2 seeds in their respective regions last week. Tennessee will be the home team for Game 1 on Saturday afternoon, the away team for Game 2 on Sunday and the home team for Game 3, if necessary, on Monday.
Saturday’s game at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg is a 3 p.m. Eastern Time start on ESPNU. Start times and TV info for the games on Sunday and Monday have not yet been announced.
The Vols (41-19) are projected to start right-hander Andrew Lindsey (3-2, 2.40 ERA), who has won each of his last six starts, against Southern Miss right-hander Billy Oldham (8-3, 4.33 ERA).
Sunday’s starters are expected to be Tennessee right-hander Chase Hollander (6-5, 4.50 ERA) vs. Southern Miss ace and right-hander Tanner Hall (12-3, 2.08 ERA). Hall is expected to be held until Game 2 due to the number of innings he had to pitch during regional play.
