Oklahoma transfer guard reportedly schedules visit with Tennessee Basketball

Tennessee Basketball has scheduled a visit with Oklahoma transfer guard Duke Miles on Wednesday, according to a report from The Athletic’s Tobias Bass. Miles has averaged 11.6 points, 2.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 116 games over the last five seasons. 

Bass reported Sunday night that Miles plans to visit Texas A&M on Monday and Tuesday, Tennessee on Wednesday, then USC Thursday and Friday and Baylor next Monday and Tuesday. 

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Miles, a native of Montgomery, Ala., averaged a career-best 17.5 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game at High Point during the 2023-24 season. He averaged 9.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 34 games at Oklahoma last season, while shooting 43.0% from the 3-point line and 51.4% from the field. 

Miles was 40-for-93 from three with the Sooners and 44-for-122 two seasons ago at High Point. He started his career at Troy before transferring to High Point, then to Oklahoma.

Tennessee added five-star SF Nate Ament on Sunday

Tennessee is in the process of rebuilding its entire backcourt after losing seniors in Zakai Zeigler, Chaz Lanier, Jordan Gainey, Jahmai Mashack, Igor Milicic Jr. and Darlinstone Dubar

Tennessee added a commitment from five-star small forward Nate Ament on Sunday evening, the No. 3 overall player in the On3 ratings in the class of 2025. He’s the No. 2 small forward and the No. 1 overall player in the state of Virginia. 

Ament joins a Tennessee recruiting class that includes four-star shooting guard Amari Evans, four-star center Dewayne Brown and three-star point guard Troy Henderson

The 6-foot-5, 204-pound Evans is ranked No. 68 overall. Brown is No. 100 nationally and Henderson, who signed with the Vols last week, is ranked No. 248 overall.

Vols have signed two players from NCAA Transfer Portal so far

Tennessee has added two players out of the NCAA Transfer Portal so far in Maryland point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Vanderbilt power forward Jaylen Carey.

Gillespie started all 36 games at Maryland this season, averaging 14.7 points and 4.8 assists in 31.6 minutes per game while shooting 45.3% from the floor and 40.7% from the 3-point line, where he made 87 of 214 attempts. 

He’s a Greeneville, Tenn. native, who started his college basketball career at Belmont, averaging 17.2 points, 4.2 assists and 2.2 steals in 31.4 minutes per game as a sophomore at Belmont in 2023-24.

Carey, the 6-foot-8, 245-pound sophomore, averaged 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game at Vanderbilt this season.
