Tennessee Basketball adds commitment from Virginia point guard

Tennessee Basketball has added a new commitment from point guard Troy Henderson, an unsigned senior in the 2025 class. Henderson, a former Fordham signee, gives the Vols three prep prospects in the class, alongside four-star guard Amari Evans and four-star center Dewayne Brown.
Henderson signed with Fordham in November, but was released after the Rams fired head coach Keith Urgo. He announced his commitment on social media on Tuesday afternoon.
Henderson, a 6-foot Chester, Va., native, played at John Marshall High School in Richmond and was a standout at Lancaster High School, leading the school to consecutive state championships.
He scored more 1,800 points in three years at Lancaster, a school record. As a junior in 2023-24, he averaged 25.9 points to go along with 5.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.1 steals per game.
Tennessee looking to rebuild its backcourt with multiple open spots
Tennessee will have to completely rebuild its backcourt over the offseason, with Zakai Zeigler, Jordan Gainey, Jahmai Mashack, Chaz Lanier and Darlinstone Dubar departing as seniors or fifth-year seniors.
Four-star point guard Chance Mallory, a former Virginia commitment, re-committed to Virginia last week, picking the Cavaliers over Tennessee and three other programs.
The Vols are also recruiting 2025 five-star shooting guard Brayden Burries, who visited Tennessee earlier this season.
