Game time, TV information announced for Tennessee-Creighton in the Sweet 16
Tennessee basketball’s game against Creighton in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 Friday in Detroit will start at approximately 10:09 p.m. Eastern Time, following the Purdue-Gonzaga game, which is scheduled for a 7:39 p.m. ET start.
The Tennessee-Creighton game will be televised by TBS and TruTV. The winner will advance to face either No. 1 Purdue or No. 5 Gonzaga in the Elite Eight.
Tennessee (26-8), the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, advanced with an 83-49 win over No. 15 Saint Peter’s in the first round on Thursday and a 62-58 win over No. 7 Texas in the second round Saturday night at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
Creighton (25-9), the No. 3 seed in the Midwest, beat No. 14 Akron 77-60 in the first round on Thursday and got past No. 11 Oregon 86-73 on Saturday night in Pittsburgh.
The Vols are in the Sweet 16 for a second straight season and the third time since 2019. It’s their 10th trip to the NCAA Tournament’s third round in program history.
Tennessee has been to one Elite Eight, losing to Michigan State 70-69 in 2010 in St. Louis.
Creighton went to the Elite Eight last season, losing to San Diego State. The Bluejays are in the Sweet 16 for the sixth time in program history and have been to the Elite Eight twice.
KenPom.com has Creighton at No. 11 in its overall ratings. The Bluejays are ranked No. 11 in adjusted offensive efficiency, averaging 120.1 points per 100 possessions, and are ranked No. 23 in adjusted defensive efficiency, giving up 96.4 points per 100 possessions.
Tennessee is No. 7 overall in the KenPom ratings, ranked No. 3 in adjusted defensive efficiency and No. 31 in adjusted offensive efficiency.

The Vols got past Texas in the second round Saturday night despite going just 3-for-25 from the 3-point line and shooting 33.8% from the field. They forced 17 Texas turnovers, scoring 15 points off turnovers.
Tennessee had 36 points in the paint Saturday night and Creighton gave up 40 points in the paint against Oregon.
Steven Ashworth had 21 points to lead Creighton, ahead of 20 from Trey Alexander, 18 from Baylor Scheierman and 19 and 14 from 7-foot-1 center Ryan Kalkbrenner.
Oregon got 28 points and 20 rebounds from center N’Faly Dante and 32 points from guard Jermaine Cousinard.
Dalton Knecht led Tennessee with 18 points and nine rebounds Saturday night. Jonas Aidoo had 11 points, Tobe Awaka had 10 points and five rebounds and Josiah-Jordan James had nine points and nine rebounds. Zakai Zeigler had six points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals while playing all 40 minutes.
