No. 6 Tennessee returns home Wednesday for another tough conference game against No. 23 Georgia at Food City Center. The Vols and Bulldogs are scheduled for an 8 p.m. Eastern Time start on SEC Network.
Tennessee (15-1, 2-1 SEC) lost its first game of the season last week, 73-43 at Florida, but bounced back on the road at Texas Saturday night, rallying late for a 74-70 win. Georgia (14-2, 2-1) beat Kentucky and Ole Miss last week, after opening SEC play with a loss at Ole Miss.
The Vols dropped five spots in the rankings on Monday following the loss at Florida. Tennessee had spent the last five weeks ranked No. 1 in the polls, setting a new program record for consecutive weeks ranked No. 1. They matched a program record for the best start to a season at 14-0, tying the 1922-23 team that went 14-0 to start a 17-game season.

Five-star freshman forward Asa Newell leads Georgia in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Sophomore Silas Demary averages 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Newell, a 6-foot-11, 220-pounder out of Destin, Fla., was the No. 12 overall recruit in the 2024 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the No. 2 power forward in the class and the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Florida.

Georgia is ranked No. 26 in the NET with a 2-2 record in Quad 1 games. The Bulldogs are 1-0 in Quad 2, 4-0 in Quad 3 and 7-0 in Quad 4.
KenPom.com has Georgia at No. 34 overall in its ratings. The Bulldogs are No. 16 in adjusted defensive efficiency (94.0) and No. 73 in offensive efficiency (112.0).
Tennessee enters Wednesday’s game ranked No. 4 in the NET and No. 6 in KenPom, ranked No. 3 on defense (88.2) and No .25 on offense (117.5).
