Start time, TV set for Tennessee Basketball's game at Louisville on November 9
Tennessee Basketball’s game at Louisville on November 9 will be a Noon Eastern Time start and will be televised by ACC Network. The two schools in June announced a two-year home-and-home series, with the Vols hosting the Cardinals in December 2025.
The Noon ET start at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville on November 9 will be part of a Saturday doubleheader for Tennessee fans. Tennessee Football hosts Mississippi State later that night at Neyland Stadium, a game that will start between 6-8 p.m.
Tennessee and Louisville have played 20 times dating back to 1913, but haven’t matched up on home courts since playing four games between December 2001 and January 2005. The Cardinal went 4-0 in the two home-and-homes.
The two teams last met in November 2018, when Tennessee won 92-81 in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Barclays Center in New York City. Louisville beat the Vols 79-60 in Charlotte in the Sweet 16 in March 2008.
Louisville won just eight games last season, finishing 8-24 before firing Kenny Payne after he went 12-52 in two seasons at the school.
Pat Kelsey, the former Winthrop and Charleston head coach, was hired at Louisville in March. He went 75-27 in three seasons at Charleston, taking the Cougars to two NCAA Tournaments. He went 186-95 in nine seasons at Winthrop, going to the NCAA Tournament twice.
A closer look at the Vols’ non-conference schedule
The 2024-25 season will start on November 4 at home against Gardner-Webb, starting a non-conference schedule that includes games against Syracuse, Virginia, Miami and Illinois, along with Louisville.
The Vols released their full non-conference schedule in August, including eight home games out of the 12 total non-conference games.
Tennessee will play Miami in the Jimmy V Classic on December 10 at Madison Square Garden in New York. It will be a 6:30 p.m. ET start on ESPN.

Tennessee goes to Illinois on December 14 in the second game of a home-and-home series. The Vols beat the Illini 86-79 in Knoxville last season.
Virginia is the first-round opponent in the Continental Tire Baha Mar Championship on November 21 in the Bahamas. Tennessee is part of a four-team field that als includes Baylor and St. John’s.
Other Tennessee home games in November include Montana on November 13, Austin Peay on November 17 and UT Martin on November 27. In December the Vols host Western Kentucky (December 17), Middle Tennessee State (December 23) and Norfolk State (December 31).
Tennessee Basketball’s SEC Schedule
After opening the SEC schedule at home against Arkansas on January 4, Tennessee will play at Florida on January 7 and will play at Texas on January 11. The Vols host Georgia on either January 15, go to Vanderbilt on January 18 and host Mississippi State on January 21.
Tennessee goes to Auburn on January 25 and hosts Kentucky on January 28 to end the month.
February starts with a home dates against Florida on February 1 and Missouri on February 5. The Vols go to Oklahoma on February 8 and Kentucky on either February 11. Tennessee hosts Vanderbilt on February 15 and are then off until playing at Texas A&M on February 22. The month ends at LSU on February 25.
Tennessee’s final three regular-season games are in March. The Vols play Alabama at home on March 1, go to Ole Miss on March 5 and will have Senior Day at home against South Carolina on March 8.
