Tennessee (16-2, 3-2 SEC) trailed by 16 points with just under 11 minutes left Saturday against Vanderbilt before a frantic rally to cut it to a one-possession game with 2.8 seconds left. Chaz Lanier missed the second of what would have been two game-tying free throws, though.
Mississippi State (14-3, 3-2) bounced back from back-to-back losses at home against Kentucky and on the road at Auburn with an 84-81 overtime home win over rival Ole Miss on Saturday. The Bulldogs went 2-0 against the Vols last season, winning 77-72 in Starkville last January, then 73-56 in the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament in Nashville in March.
