Live Updates: No. 5 Tennessee basketball at Missouri
After the 85-69 loss at Texas A&M 10 days ago, No. 5 Tennessee bounced back in a big way with a 92-63 win at Arkansas and an 88-53 home win over Vanderbilt. Now the Vols are back on the road to face Missouri on Tuesday (7 p.m. Eastern Time, SEC Network) at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
Tennessee (19-6, 9-3 SEC) enters Tuesday’s game in second place in the SEC standings, a game back of Alabama (10-2) and a half game ahead of both Auburn (9-4) and South Carolina (9-4).
Missouri (8-17, 0-12) has lost 12 straight games and 15 of its last 16 since its 7-2 start to the season.

A Closer Look: The Missouri Tigers
A year ago Dennis Gates in his first year as Missouri’s head coach led the Tigers to a 23-8 record, including a pair of wins over Tennessee. Missouri beat the Vols 86-85 on a buzzer-beater at Thompson-Boling Arena on February 11, then sent the Vols home in the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament with a 79-71 win at Bridgestone Arena.

The Tigers made it to the semifinal round of the conference tournament before losing to Alabama, then went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, beating Utah State in the first round before being upset by Princeton in the round of 32.
This Missouri team has familiar faces from a year ago. Sean East II leads the team in scoring at 16.0 points per game, while also averaging 4.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Tamar Bates averages 14.0 points per game, ahead of 11.5 from Noah Carter and 10.8 from Nick Honor.
Missouri has won three of its last four against Tennessee dating back to the 2020-21 season, but the lone win for the Vols during that span was at Mizzou Arena in 80-61. Kennedy Chandler had 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes while Santiago Vescovi scored 14 points and Victor Bailey Jr. had 11 off the bench.
Tennessee won the previous four meetings against Missouri, including three times Columbia (87-63 in January 2019, 69-59 in January 2020 and 73-53 in December 30). Rick Barnes is 17-12 overall against Missouri, including a 6-5 record as Tennessee’s head coach.
