Tennessee Basketball returns to the Food City Center for the first of two games this week when the Vols host Montana on Wednesday night, a 7 Eastern Time start streaming on SEC Network+. Tennessee ends the week with a Sunday afternoon game against Austin Peay.

Tennessee moved up to No. 9 in the KenPom.com ratings. The Vols are No. 3 in adjusted defensive efficiency and No. 26 in adjusted offensive efficiency.

Montana is ranked No. 194 overall by KenPom. The Grizzlies are No. 166 in offensive efficiency and No. 245 in defensive efficiency. They started the season with a 92-61 win over Hawaii Hilo on November 4, lost 79-48 at Oregon on Friday and beat Northwest Indian College 94-44 on Sunday.

“I think they’re very solid in their approach,” Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said on Tuesday, “what they’re trying to do, how they want to play. You can expect again, I’ve got great respect for Montana basketball because I’ve been around long enough to know the history of that program.”

Tennessee went on the road on Saturday and led wire-to-wire, building its lead to as much as 26 points, in a 77-55 win at Louisville. The Vols started the game on a 10-0 run and led by 22 in the first half.

Chaz Lanier and Zakai Zeigler scored 19 points each in the win at Louisville on Saturday, helping the Vols lead by as many as 26 points in the wire-to-wire win in front of 16,976 fans at the KFC Yum! Center.

Felix Okpara finished with 10 points and six rebounds and Jordan Gainey had nine points, four rebounds and four assists.

Tennessee’s defense suffocated Louisville, holding the Cardinal to 26.7% shooting form the field and 25.6% from the 3-point line. The Vols outscored Louisville 40-10 in the paint and out-rebounded UL 40-26.
