Tennessee Basketball is one of three finalists for four-star shooting guard Amari Evans, alongside Pitt and Xavier. Evans has taken official visits to see each of his final three schools and will announce his commitment decision on November 1.

Evans is a 6-foot-5, 204-pound four-star prospect in the class of 2025. He’s ranked as the No. 128 overall recruit in the On3 ratings. He’s the No. 32 shooting guard in the country and the No. 15 overall player in Georgia, where he plays in the Overtime Elite prep league.

The Pittsburgh native has taken an unofficial visit to see the Vols and an official visit to Pitt.

Tennessee over the summer made the top 10 for Evans, who also had Georgetown, Illinois, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Pitt, TCU, Texas A&M, Xavier, and Villanova on the list. Evans previously took an unofficial visit to see the Vols and had also been on an official visit to Pitt.

Tennessee scheduled to host multiple official visitors this fall

Tennessee last weekend hosted four-star shooting guard Darius Adams and five-star power forward Chris Cenac on official visits. The Vols previously had visits scheduled with four-star shooting guard Braylon Mullins, four-star small forward Tounde Yessoufou and four-star point guard Chance Mallory, but both of those visits have been cancelled.

Cenac, a 6-foot-10, 210-pound prospect from New Orleans, is the No. 5 overall player in the On3 Ratings. He’s ranked No. 2 among power forwards nationally and is the No. 1 player in the state of Missouri, where he attends Link Academy.

Adams is the No. 20 overall player in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s the No. 6 shooting guard and the No. 2 player in the state of Indiana, where he attends La Lumiere School.

The Vols currently have one commitment in the 2025 recruiting class, from four-star center Dewayne Brown. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound prospect out of Hoover, Alabama, committed to Tennessee on April 20. He’s ranked No. 103 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking and is the No. 10 center in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama.

On3 Scouting Report — Amari Evans

On3’s Jamie Shaw: Amari Evans has a good basketball frame with nice length and broad shoulders. He has nice positional size as a complimentary guard. Evans is a capable shooter with range beyond the arc. He is a solid secondary ball handler, able to restart possessions and get the ball where it needs to go. He can also defend at the point of attack or off the ball, being aggressive in the passing lanes. Consistency is the next step for Evans as he continues forward, that should be helped by finding a defined role for himself. A strong guard with flashes of dribbling, shooting, and passing has value in today’s game.
