Four-star point guard Bishop Boswell, Tennessee Basketball’s lone high school prospect in the 2024 signing class, arrived in Knoxville on Sunday to officially begin his career with the Vols. He committed to Tennessee last September and signed with the Vols in November.

Boswell, listed at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds out of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C., finished his prep career ranked No. 74 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the No. 11 point guard in the class and the No. 8 overall player out of the state of North Carolina.

He picked Tennessee over Wake Forest, Georgia and Xaviers, among others.

Boswell last month was joined in Tennessee’s 2024 class by four players from the NCAA Transfer Portal: North Florida guard Chaz Lanier, Hofstra wing Darlinstone Dubar, Charlotte forward Igor Milicic Jr. and Ohio State center Felix Okpara.

Boswell was a two-sport athlete in high school, play football and basketball, but dropped football following the 2021 season to focus more on his basketball future. Last spring he led his Myers Park team to a state championship.

“I chose Tennessee because of the winning culture that the program has and Coach Barnes has had over his career,” Boswell told On3 when he announced his commitment last year, “as well as the relationship coach has with his players to love them while also getting the best out of them and developing them on the court. Also how passionate the fans and teachers are about their student-athletes.”

What Rick Barnes said about Bishop Boswell

“We are thrilled to welcome Bishop Boswell and his mother, Brittany Boswell, to the Tennessee Basketball family. Bishop is a great young man who exhibits superb leadership qualities. He is a big, versatile guard who is comfortable both scoring and facilitating. We are also excited about his ability to defend multiple positions on the other end of the court. A former football player, Bishop will also bring a high level of toughness that meshes well with our program.”

Bishop Boswell as a College Recruit — On3 Scouting Report

“It was a summer (2023) of separation for four-star PG Bishop Boswell. On a Team CP3 travel team that had multiple top-50 players, it was Boswell who led them in points, rebounds, assists, and steals during Nike’ EYBL Circuit regular season. Boswell, a former football player, has a strong frame with long arms. He can be a very good defender both on or off the ball. Offensively, Boswell is an aggressive player, touching the paint in straight lines and absorbing contact in the paint. He also developed the jump shot, shooting 36.5 percent on 3.7 attempts during the EYBL’s regular season. He was a central figure in Charlotte (NC) Myers Park run to the North Carolina state championship, as one of the team’s leading scorers throughout the playoffs as well as handling the ball and guarding the opposing team’s top perimeter threat.”
