Four-star point guard Chance Mallory, a Tennessee Basketball target and one of the top uncommitted guards left in the class of 2025, has narrowed his list of schools to five and has set a commitment date of March 22, according to On3’s Joe Tipton

Mallory will choose between Tennessee, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Maryland and Virginia Tech.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound prospect out of Charlottesville, Va., is ranked No. 49 overall in the On3 ratings. He’s the No. 6 point guard in the class and the No. 2 overall player in the state of Virginia.

He was previously committed to Virginia before the sudden retirement of former Virginia head coach Tony Bennett in Virginia.

Vols hosted Chance Mallory on official visit earlier this season

Tennessee hosted Mallory on an official visit on February 1, during the 66-46 win over Florida at Food City Center..

“I mean, Tennessee is Tennessee,” Mallory told Tipton earlier this year. “Their facilities are top notch. They keep their players to a high standard, which they should, they’re the top team in the country right now. They hold their players accountable and keep them under control which is nice.”

The Vols are also recruiting 2025 five-star shooting guard Brayden Burries, who visited Tennessee earlier this season.

Burries, a Riverside, Calif., native, is the No. 8 overall player in the On3 Ratings. He’s the No. 2 shooting guard in the class and the No. 2 player in the state of California.

Burries has a connection to Tennessee through his mother, who was a pitcher for the Lady Vols softball program.

The Vols are in the final five for Five Star-Plus+ small forward Nate Ament, the No. 3 overall player in 2025. He’s the No. 2 small forward and the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia.

Ament, who is set to announce his commitment decision on April 1, has Tennessee in his final five alongside Arkansas, Duke, Kentucky and Louisville.

Tennessee has signed two players in class of 2025 so far

Tennessee so far has added two players in its 2025 recruiting class, signing four-star shooting guard Amari Evans and four-star center Dewayne Brown during the November signing period.

Evans, a 6-foot-5, 204-pound prospect out of Pittsburgh, Pa., is the No. 68 overall player in the class. He’s No. 20 at shooting guard and No. 7 in the state of Georgia, where he plays in the Overtime Elite League in Atlanta.

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Brown, out of Hoover, Ala., was the first commitment in the class. He’s ranked No. 101 overall, is the No. 10 center in the class and is the No. 1 prospect in the state of Alabama.
