Four-star New York point guard has Tennessee Basketball in final eight
Tennessee Basketball is one of eight programs left in the recruiting of 2025 point guard Chris Jeffrey, who cut down his list on Sunday. The Vols were joined on the list by Butler, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Penn State and Texas A&M.
Jeffrey, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound native of Brooklyn, N.Y., attends Mt. Zion Prep in Baltimore. He’s a four-star prospect according to the On3 Ratings, ranked No. 68 overall in the country and No. 8 among point guards. He’s the No. 3 player in the state of Maryland.
Jeffrey plays for the same New Heights Lightning AAU program that produced both Zakai Zeigler and Tobe Awaka. The Vols are selling Jeffrey on the comparisons to Zeigler.

“They tell me how they love how I play defense and how I lead my team,” Jeffrey told On3’s Joe Tipton. “Zakai Zeigler goes there and we both have the same AAU coach, they think I could come in and do some similar things as him.”
Jeffrey is working to schedule visits to Tennessee, Penn State and Mississippi State. He has taken official visits to Maryland and Oklahoma State, under Oklahoma State’s previous coaching staff, and is scheduled to take a visit to Butler in September, according to Tipton.
The Vols currently have one commitment in the 2025 recruiting class, from four-star center Dewayne Brown. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound prospect out of Hoover, Alabama, committed to Tennessee on April 20.
Brown is ranked No. 103 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking and is the No. 10 center in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama.
