Vols have signed two recruits in 2025 class so far
Tennessee’s 2025 class currently consists of two signings in four-star guard Amari Evans and four-star center Dewayne Brown. The class is ranked No. 33 nationally and No. 11 in the SEC with an average class score of 91.41.
The 6-foot-5, 204-pound Evans, a Pittsburgh native who plays in the Overtime Elite league in Atlanta, is the No. 83 overall prospect in the 2025 class. He’s the No. 21 shooting guard nationally and the No. 11 overall player in the state of Georgia.
Brown is a 6-foot-9, 235-pound center prospect out of Hoover High School in Hoover, Ala. He’s ranked No. 102 overall, No. 10 at his position and No. 1 overall in the state of Alabama.
Both Evans and Brown signed with Tennessee during the November signing period.
“DeWayne is a skilled forward with the ability to score in the paint,” Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said at the time. “However, he is also adept at both shooting and facilitating on the perimeter. He is a hard worker who is receptive to coaching and we feel he will be an excellent fit for the culture of our program.”

“We are excited to bring Amari and his family into our program,” Barnes added. “Stylistically, he was one of the better fits in the country for us … he possesses toughness, shooting ability, skill and a superb basketball IQ. Amari hangs his hat on being a high-level defender, which is something that stood out right away to us. More than anything, though, he is a winner.”
No. 1 Tennessee vs. No. 23 Arkansas, Saturday, 1 p.m. ET
No. 1 Tennessee (13-0) hosts No. 23 Arkansas (11-2) on Saturday afternoon in 1 p.m. Eastern Time start on ESPN. The Vols have been ranked No. 1 for four weeks and are off to the second best start in program history. A win against the Razorbacks would tie the record at 14-0 with the 1922-23 Tennessee team.
The Vols started the season with 11 scholarship players out of a possible 13. They’re down to nine currently available after sophomore wing Cam Carr left the program on December 23 and sophomore center JP Estrella had season-ending foot surgery in late November.
Of the nine scholarship players, six are seniors or redshirt seniors. Chaz Lanier and Darlinstone Dubar are both fifth-year seniors while Zakai Zeigler, Igor Milicic Jr., Jordan Gainey and Jahmai Mashack are all seniors.
