Tennessee Basketball will host Syracuse on December 3 at Food City Center in next season’s ACC-SEC Challenge. The Vols last season lost 100-92 at North Carolina in the first edition of the event, which replaced the SEC-Big 12 Challenge and ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

Tennessee beat Syracuse 73-56 in the Maui Invitational last November. The Vols have played the Orange seven times, with other games in 1972, 1977, 1992, 1993, 2000 and 2002.

Two other ACC opponents are already on Tennessee’s schedule and there could be a third. The Vols will play at Louisville in November and will face Miami in the Jimmy V Classic in New York in December. Tennessee could also play Virginia in the four-team Baha Mar Hoops tournament in the Bahamas in November.

Other games in the ACC-SEC Challenge, according to Jon Rothstein, are Arkansas at Miami, California at Missouri, Florida State at LSU, Georgia Tech at Oklahoma, Kentucky at Clemson, Notre Dame at Georgia, Ole Miss at Louisville, South Carolina at Boston College, Wake Forest at Texas A&M, Alabama at North Carolina, Auburn at Duke, Pitt at Mississippi State, Texas at North Carolina State, Vanderbilt at Virginia Tech and Virginia at Florida.

Tennessee announced last week a home-and-home with Louisville, with the Vols starting the two-game series on the road in November. The Vols will face the Cardinal on Saturday, November 9 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The second game is set for December 16, 2025 at the Food City Center in Knoxville.

Marquee non-conference games during the Rick Barnes Era

Marquee non-conference games have been a staple of the Rick Barnes era at Tennessee. Dating back to 2015-16, the Vols have scheduled games with North Carolina, Gonzaga, Arizona, Illinois, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Colorado, Cincinnati and Memphis. They’ve also played charity exhibition games at Michigan State and Clemson.

Tennessee this season will play at Illinois in December, finishing a home-and-home that started with a win in Knoxville last season. The Miami game will be the second Jimmy V Classic appearance during the Barnes era, with the Vols also facing Texas Tech in the annual neutral-site event in December 2021.
