How To Watch: No. 6 Tennessee Basketball at No. 7 Texas A&M

It’s Tennessee Basketball game day, with the sixth-ranked Vols back on the road at No. 7 Texas A&M today, scheduled for a Noon Eastern Time start on ESPN at Reed Arena in College Station.

Tennessee (21-6, 8-5 SEC), which did not have a midweek game this week, rallied from down 16 points in the first half last Saturday to beat Vanderbilt 81-76 at Food City Center. The Vols have won four of their last five, beating Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt and losing at Kentucky. 

Texas A&M (20-6, 9-4) are coming off a 70-54 loss at No. 21 Mississippi State Tuesday night. The Aggies had won five straight and seven of eight before the loss in Starkville.

Series History: Tennessee vs. Texas A&M

Tennessee is 12-8 all time against Texas A&M, a series that included three straight wins between January 2021 and March 2022 and four straight losses between January 2014 and January 2016.

The Vols and Aggies split games last season. Tennessee lost 85-69 at A&M, trailing by as many as 22 points in the first half at Reed Arena in College Station, then won 86-51 two weeks later at Food City Center. 

Tennessee has lost its last two trips to Texas A&M, dating back to a 68-63 loss in February 2023. 

The Vols won 68-54 at Texas A&M during the 2020-21 COVID season, which featured a limited capacity at Reed Arena. Tennessee won 93-76 in College Station in 2019, when the team was ranked No. 1 and in the midst of a program-record 19-straight wins.

Texas A&M is No. 16 in the NET with a 6-5 record in Quad 1 games. The Aggies are No. 18 in the KenPom.com ratings, ranked No. 5 in adjusted defensive efficiency, giving up 91.7 points per 100 possessions, and No. 52 adjusted offensive efficiency, scoring 116.2 points per 100 possessions. 

Senior guard Wade Taylor IV leads Texas A&M in scoring at 14.9 points per game while also averaging 4.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 30.0 minutes per game. Andersson Garcia leads the Aggies in rebounds at 5.7 per game. 

Texas A&M is ranked No. 1 in KenPom offensive rebounding percentage, at 41.9%. The Aggies are third in the SEC in rebounding, averaging 40.9 per game. Tennessee leads the SEC in least rebounds allowed, at 31.1, and A&M is second at 31.7.
