No. 6 Tennessee is back on the road at Vanderbilt tonight, a 7 p.m. Eastern Time tipoff on SEC Network live from Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville. The Vols (19-4, 8-2 SEC) are looking for their 12th straight win over Vanderbilt (11-12, 4-6) and a seventh straight win over the ‘Dores in Nashville.

Last week Tennessee lost 67-54 at Florida on Wednesday and bounced back Saturday with a 46-43 win over Auburn at Thompson-Boling Arena. The Vols dropped four spots to No. 6 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday. Vanderbilt lost 101-44 at Alabama on Tuesday, but came home to beat Ole Miss 74-71 on Saturday in Nashville.

A closer look at Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt beat Ole Miss 74-71 in Nashville on Saturday, snapping a three-game losing streak — losses at home to Kentucky and on the road at Texas A&M and Alabama. Vandy started SEC play with an overtime home win over South Carolina, then lost six of its next eight games, including the 77-68 loss to Tennessee at Thompson-Boling Arena on January 10.

The Commodores are 56 in adjusted offensive efficiency per KenPom.com, averaging 112.0 points per 100 possessions. They’re 186th in defensive efficiency, giving up 105.6 per 100 possessions.

Tennessee has won 13 of its last 14 games against Vanderbilt and is currently riding an 11-game win streak against the ‘Dores, matching the longest such streak in program history. The Vols have won six straight games over Vandy at Memorial Gym in Nashville.

A win on Wednesday would give Tennessee 20 wins by February 8 for only the third time in program history. The 2018-19 team won its 20th game on February 2 while the 2007-08 team won did so on February 5.
