Line Movement: No. 17 Tennessee at No. 11 Alabama
No. 17 Tennessee on Sunday opened as a 10.0-point underdog for Saturday’s game at No. 11 Alabama, according to Circa Sports, but the line has moved to Alabama -8.5 as of Friday and as low as eight at other sports books.
Tennessee (5-1, 2-1 SEC) and Alabama (6-1, 4-0) are scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time start on CBS Saturday in the SEC Game of the Week at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
The total for the game is 48, a year after the two teams combined for 101 points in Tennessee’s 52-49 win over the Crimson Tide at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.
Circa Sports has the Vols at +295 on the money line, with Alabama at -355. Tennessee is a 5.5-point underdog in the first half, too, with the first-half total set at 24.
In the last seven trips to Tuscaloosa, Tennessee on average has been a 26-point underdog, with the largest spread being 37 points in 2017 and the smallest spreads being 14.0 in 2009 and 14.5 in 2015. The Vols haven’t been favored in a game at Alabama since 2007.
