No. 17 Tennessee (5-1, 2-1 SEC) goes back on the road to face No. 11 Alabama (5-1, 4-0) on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time on CBS as the SEC Game of the Week.
The Vols are coming off a 20-13 win over Texas A&M on Saturday while Alabama won 24-21 over Arkansas in Tuscaloosa, holding on in the fourth quarter after leading 21-6 earlier in the game.
“Really good (Alabama) football team that we’re playing,” Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said during his weekly press conference on Monday. “They’re playing well, all three phases of the football game. Their quarterback (Jalen Milroe is) playing extremely well, been accurate with football down the field. Obviously he’s extremely dynamic with his feet as well.
“Defensively, they’re creating a bunch of negative plays, quarterback sacks and tackles for loss. And special teams are, are really good. So a huge test for us. One that we’ll be excited for and gotta get focused on our preparation here this week.”

A closer look at the Crimson Tide
Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has completed 85 of 132 passes (64.4%) for 1,397 yards, with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s rushed 68 times for 139 yards and has five touchdowns on the ground.
Jase McClellan is the Tide’s leading rusher with 95 carries for 454 yards and three touchdowns. Jermaine Burton is the leading receiver with 19 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns. Isaiah Bond has 20 catches for 283 yards and two touchdown and tight end Amari Niblack has 11 catches for 213 yards and three touchdowns.
Alabama started the season with a 56-7 win over Middle Tennessee state, lost a week later 34-24 at home against Texas and has since won five straight. It started with the 17-3 win at South Florida on September 16 and continued against Ole Miss (24-10), Mississippi State (40-17), Texas A&M (26-20) and Arkansas (24-21).

The Third Saturday in October
Tennessee’s 52-49 win over Alabama at Neyland Stadium last season snapped a 15-game winning streak for the Crimson Tide in the Third Saturday in October rivalry. Alabama has a 58-39-7 edge in the series, dating back to 1901.
It’s been a series full of streaks. Tennessee won seven straight from 1995 to 2001 and 10 of 12 between 1995 and 2006, before Alabama won 15 in a row. Alabama won seven of eight, with the lone exception being a tie in 1993, between 1986 and 1994.
The Vols won four in a row between 1982 and 1985 after Alabama had won 11 straight between 1971 and 1981.
“I think it means a lot to me because it means a lot to a lot of people,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said of the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry Sunday night during an appearance on ‘The Nation.’ “It means a lot to a lot of people on our side. It probably means a lot to a lot of people on their side.
“So it’s a big game. It’s an important game. They got a really good team and we’re trying to get our guys to play with a little more consistency, but I know what this game means to a lot of Alabama folks.”
