No. 8 Tennessee and Florida issued their final injury report updates Saturday, 90 minutes before the 7 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff between the Vols (4-1, 1-1 SEC) and Gators (3-2, 1-1) on ESPN.

Tennessee had just three players on its final injury report: Defensive back Jourdan Thomas, linebacker Edwin Spillman and walk-on defensive back Ben Bolton.

The Wednesday and Thursday’ injury reports from the Vols included three starting wide receivers. Squirrel White and Bru McCoy were listed as probable and Dont’e Thornton was questionable. Starting defensive back the Christian Harrison was also listed as probable.

All four were injured in Tennessee’s 19-14 loss at Arkansas last week. McCoy had a heavy wrap on his hand after halftime, after being injured in the first half. White was in a shoulder sling after the game. It’s unclear when Thornton was injured. He caught a pass for 42 yards on Tennessee’s final possession of the game.

The removal of all four players signifies that they’re available to play against Florida. The Gators had 10 players listed as out on their final injury report.

Tennessee coach Josh Heupel during his weekly press conference on Monday addressed the McCoy and White injuries.

SEC Injury Reports

The SEC in August announced “availability reports” for football, basketball and baseball.

“This availability reporting policy is intended to reduce pressure from outside entities seeking participation information,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, “and represents a commitment of our 16 institutions to provide enhanced transparency to support efforts to protect our student-athletes and the integrity of competition.”

Players will be listed as available, probable, questionable, doubtful or out for their next game. On game day the updates will include available, game-time decision or out.

Schools of who fail to provide accurate and timely availability reports will be subject to penalties from $25,000, for first-time offenders, to $100,000 for “third and further” offenses in football.
