Friday night's updated injury reports for Tennessee, Mississippi State
Tennessee and Mississippi State issued updated injury reports Friday night, the third of four injury reports ahead of the seventh-ranked Vols (7-1, 4-1 SEC) hosting the Bulldogs (2-7, 0-5) on Saturday night (7 Eastern Time, ESPN) at Neyland Stadium.
On Friday defensive lineman Tyre West was downgraded to out after being listed as questionable on Wednesday and doubtful on Thursday. Tennessee redshirt freshman Desean Bishop was ruled out on Wednesday night’s injury report.
Mississippi State on Thursday had eight players listed as out and two as probable. The injury report will be updated one final time on Saturday, approximately 90 minutes before kickoff.

West has 12.0 tackles this season, including 4.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
Bishop was hurt after playing three snaps against Kentucky Saturday in Tennessee 28-18 win. He’s the second leading rusher for the Vols this season, with 379 yards on 54 carries and three touchdowns over the first eight games.
Freshman Peyton Lewis replaced Bishop as the No. 2 running back behind Dylan Sampson against Kentucky. Lewis ran eight times for 24 yards and had one rushing touchdown.

All eight of the carries for Lewis Saturday night came on a 14-play, 75-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter, which ended with Lewis running for a 1-yard touchdown to tie the game.
SEC Injury Reports
The SEC in August announced “availability reports” for football, basketball and baseball.
“This availability reporting policy is intended to reduce pressure from outside entities seeking participation information,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, “and represents a commitment of our 16 institutions to provide enhanced transparency to support efforts to protect our student-athletes and the integrity of competition.”
Players will be listed as available, probable, questionable, doubtful or out for their next game. On game day the updates will include available, game-time decision or out.
Schools of who fail to provide accurate and timely availability reports will be subject to penalties from $25,000, for first-time offenders, to $100,000 for “third and further” offenses in football. Men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball fines will be between $15,000 and $25,000.
