Louisville was interested in a home-and-home series with Tennessee Football before the Vols ultimately scheduled Georgia Tech, according to a report from The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy. The Cards were also interested in a series with Ole Miss.

Tennessee suddenly found itself with openings on the 2026 and 2027 schedule after Nebraska canceled a home-and-home earlier this year. It was reported in April that the Vols had replaced the Cornhuskers with Georgia Tech, going to Atlanta in 2026 and hosting the Yellowjackets in 2027.

Louisville’s future nonconference schedules include a home-and-home with Georgia in 2026 and 2027, Texas A&M in 2028 and 2029 and four games against Notre Dame in 2030, 2032, 2033 and 2035.

Tennessee’s nonconference schedule this season includes Syracuse, ETSU, UAB and New Mexico State. In 2026 the Vols host Furman, go to Georgia Tech and host Kennesaw State over three straight weeks in September.

Georgia Tech comes to Knoxville on September 11, 2027, before Vols also host Western Michigan on September 18.

Tennessee is scheduled to play West Virginia in Charlotte in 2028, before beginning a home-and-home against Washington at Neyland Stadium on September 1, 2029. The Vols are scheduled to go to Washington on September 7, 2030.

Tennessee’s 2025 Football Schedule

Tennessee’s season starts against Syracuse in Atlanta on August 30 in the Aflac Kickoff Game. It will be a Noon Eastern Time start and will be aired on ABC.

The Vols host ETSU in the home opener on September 6 at Neyland Stadium, hosts UAB on September 20 and New Mexico State on November 15.

Tennessee hosts Georgia at Neyland Stadium on September 13, goes to Alabama on October 18 and goes to Florida on November 22.

The Vols go to Mississippi State on September 27 in the first road SEC game. Tennessee comes back home to face Arkansas on October 11, goes to Kentucky on October 25 and closes the regular-season schedule at home against Vanderbilt on November 29.

Tennessee is a 12.5-point favorite vs. Syracuse

Tennessee is a 12.5-point favorite against Syracuse. The Vols were a 13.5-point favorite when the line was initially released in January.

The updated win total for Tennessee this season is set at 8.5, according to odds from FanDuel. The total for the Vols was previously 9.5, before losing Nico Iamaleava to the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Over 8.5 wins is -122 in the new odds while under 8.5 wins is +100. Tennessee also went from the eighth best odds to win a national championship, at +1800, to 12th, at +3000.
