Tennessee Athletics to sell 'Mountain Strong' merchandise to support hurricane relief efforts
Tennessee Athletics announced on Saturday that ‘Mountain Strong’ merchandise will be sold with proceeds going to Hurricane Helene relief efforts. No. 4 Tennessee is wearing a ‘Mountain Strong’ helmet decal for Saturday night’s game at Arkansas to honor those impacted by the catastrophic flooding in East Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by the historic flooding from Hurricane Helene,” the Vols announced on Friday, “and we understand as Tennessee Volunteers the call to serve our neighbors.
“The university’s Jones Center for Leadership and Service is coordinating ways to contribute to relief efforts, including trusted organizations accepting monetary donations.”
Tennessee will use QR codes at athletic events, according to the announcement, to publicize ways to donate to three organizations: East Tennessee Foundation, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County and One SC Fund.

Tennessee Athletics ‘continuing to pursue opportunities to assist the state and our region’
East Tennessee Foundation has set up a fund for money donations for those impacted in East Tennessee counties. United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County is providing drinking water and mobile distribution for those in rural areas. One SC Fund distributes 99% of donations to non profits providing disaster relief in South Carolina.
“Public Safety is regularly monitoring Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) requests,” the Vols added, “and providing assistance and resources as appropriate.

Vols return home next week to start run of four straight home games
After Saturday night’s game at Arkansas, Tennessee will return home for a run of four straight home games over a stretch of five weeks.
The Vols played three games away from home over the first five games, beating North Carolina State 51-10 in Charlotte on September 7 and beating Oklahoma 25-15 two weeks ago in Norman before the trip to Arkansas.
A run of four straight home games starts with Florida next Saturday (7 p.m. Eastern Time, ESPN) then Alabama (October 19). After the second bye week of the season, the Vols host Kentucky (November 2) and Mississippi State (November 9).
The regular-season schedule ends with a road game at Georgia (November 16), a home game against UTEP (November 23) and a road game at Vanderbilt (November 30).
