Neyland Stadium will be a cashless venue beginning this fall, Tennessee announced on Thursday, along with multiple other updates for the stadium ahead of the new football season. Tennessee Football opens the new season August 30 against Syracuse in Atlanta and hosts ETSU in the home opener on September 6.

The Vols announced updates in the south end zone, updated chair back seats, fully functional WiFi, an extended perimeter for entry outside the stadium and a new pregame parade route for the Pride of the Southland band.

Concession stands, the Vol Shop and retail locations are all now cashless, as all Tennessee athletics venues will become cashless beginning with the 2025-26 athletic year.

Tennessee’s ‘Rocky Top WiFi’ fully functional this season

The multi-year WiFi project — ‘Rocky Top WiFi’ — is now complete throughout the stadium after being partially completed in previous seasons.

Tennessee also addressed the chairback seats installed in the Neyland Stadium bowl last season, which have now been updated with a design that will limit the amount the seats can recline.

An extended perimeter will be used outside the stadium on the west and south sides. Tickets will not be scanned until fans enter stadium gates, which open two hours prior to kickoff.

The press release also noted an extended perimeter with metal detectors at multiple points on the south side of the stadium: the southeast corner of Neyland Stadium; exiting the middle of the walkway of the G10 garage onto the south pedestrian walkway; Phillip Fulmer Way outside of the G10 entrance; the exit point of G5/30 on Phillip Fulmer Way; just south of Peyton Manning Pass.

Fans can go in and out of the extended security perimeter on game day and will be able to use the restrooms located under Ramp 10 in Truly’s Tailgate.

Peyton Manning Pass, Phillip Fulmer Way closed on game days

On game days this fall, Peyton Manning Pass and Phillip Fulmer Way will be closed after 5 a.m. Eastern Time. Cars with parking passes in Lot 9/9B and Middle Drive will be allowed to turn onto Phillip Fulmer Way from Cumberland Avenue. No cars will be allowed to access Lot 9/9B from Peyton Manning Pass. Only approved and commercial vehicles will be permitted on Phillip Fulmer Way from Lake Loudon Boulevard.

Tennessee has also doubled Gate 9, adding the southwest plaza. Truly’s Tailgate, located outside Gate 9, has also expanded this season and will open three hours before kickoff.

New, larger restrooms have been added in the south end zone, along with the widening of the concourse. A new elevator was also added in the southeast corner of the stadium, allowing fans to access all three levels.
