Portal Rundown: Tennessee players who are reportedly headed to the NCAA Transfer Portal

Five Tennessee Football players currently intend to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal when the winter portal window opens on Monday. The portal will be open until December 28, then closes until the spring window in April.

Here’s a look at the Vols who are reportedly headed to the portal:

Jalen Smith

Redshirt Freshman | Linebacker | 6-2, 230

Jalen Smith played in all 12 games during the regular season, finishing with 34.0 tackles, with 13 solo and 21 assists, and had 1.5 tackles for loss. He had a career-high nine tackles against Kentucky on November 2 and five tackles against UTEP, including 1.5 tackles for loss. He had four tackles against Chattanooga and Florida.

Smith was a three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He was ranked No. 432 overall nationally, No. 42 at linebacker and No. 44 in the state of Georgia, out of Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga. He picked the Vols over Pitt, Georgia Tech and Duke, among others. 

Jordan Matthews

Redshirt Freshman | Defensive Back | 6-2, 182

Jordan Matthews appeared in 12 games this season as a reserve defensive back and special teams player, recording 3.0 tackles and breaking up two passes. He broke up both passes in the season-opening win over Chattanooga on August 31, recorded two tackles against Kent State on September 14 and had one tackle against the Mocs.

Matthews was a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. He was ranked No. 143 overall, No. 16 at corner and No. 7 in the state of Louisiana, out of Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, La. He picked Tennessee over LSU, Texas and Michigan.

Kaleb Webb 

Redshirt Sophomore | Wide Receiver | 6-3, 204

Kaleb Webb this season caught six passes while appearing in seven games. He had 48 reaching yards, with a long of 13. Last season Webb caught 16 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown while appearing in 13 games. He played in three games as a true freshman in 2022.

Webb was a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He was ranked No. 217 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking, was the No. 38 wide receiver in the class and the No. 24 overall prospect in the state of Georgia, out of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga.

Khalifa Keith

Sophomore | Running Back | 6-1, 239

Khalifa Keith appeared in four games during the regular season, running 21 times for 100 yards and one touchdown. He had 10 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown against Chattanooga, three carries for five yards against NC State and four carries for 13 yards against Kent State. He rushed four times for 39 yards against UTEP.

Keith was a three-star prospect in the 2023 class, ranked No. 547 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the No. 38 running back in his class and the No. 25 overall prospect in the state of Alabama, out of Parker High School in Birmingham, Ala. 

Vysen Lang

Freshman | Offensive Line | 6-4, 340

Vysen Lang was a reserve offensive lineman for Tennessee this season. He was a three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, ranked No. 715 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He was ranked No. 67 among interior offensive linemen and No. 29 overall in the state of Alabama, out of Pike Road, Ala. He picked the Vols over offers from nine other SEC schools.
