Tennessee tumbles in updated rankings after loss at Florida
Tennessee football on Sunday dropped in the updated rankings after the 29-16 loss to Florida Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.
The Vols in the USA Today Coaches Poll dropped 11 spots and is now ranked No. 20. In the Associated Press Top 25, they fell 12 spots and are now ranked No. 23.
After Saturday night’s game at Florida, Tennessee returns home to host UTSA on Saturday afternoon. The game, the first of three straight home dates over the next four weeks, is scheduled for a 4 p.m. Eastern Time start on SEC Network.
Tennessee started at No. 11 in the AP Preseason Top 25. The Vols moved up to No. 9 in Week 2 of the poll, after the 49-13 win over Virginia at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on September 2, then dropped back two spots to No. 11 after a sluggish 30-13 win over Austin Peay at Neyland Stadium.
The Vols were No. 10 in the preseason Coaches Poll, moved up to No. 9 in Week 2 and stayed put at No. 9 last week.
Tennessee last season was unranked in the preseason in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll, before starting 8-0 and climbing to as high as No. 2 in the AP poll and No. 3 in the Coaches. Poll on October 30. The Vols finished at No. 6 in both polls at the end of the season, after beating Clemson 31-14 in the Orange Bowl.

What’s Next: Tennessee’s remaining schedule
Tennessee returns home for back-to-back home games and a run of three straight at Neyland over a four-week span. After hosting UTSA, South Carolina comes to Knoxville on September 30. The Vols have an open date on October 1 and will face Texas A&M at home on October 14.
After that it’s back-to-back road games at Alabama (October 21) and at Kentucky (October 28) to round out the October schedule.
Tennessee plays three of four games in November at home, hosting UConn for homecoming on November 4, Georgia on November 18 and Vanderbilt on November 25 in the regular-season finale. The only road game in November is at Missouri on November 11.
