Where Tennessee is ranked in AP Top 25, Coaches Poll after the 45-14 win over UTSA
Tennessee on Sunday moved up one spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll, going from No. 20 to No. 19, and moved up two spots in the Associated Press Top 25, going from No. 23 to No. 21.
The Vols (3-1, 0-1 SEC) beat UTSA (1-3) 45-14 on Saturday in Knoxville. South Carolina (2-2, 1-1) beat Mississippi State 37-30 Saturday night in Columbia, bouncing back from the 24-14 loss at No. 1 Georgia last week.
Tennessee has a 28-11-2 record against South Carolina in a series that dates back to 1903. The two teams played just 10 times between 1903 and 1992, but have played every season since then. The Vols won 12 straight between 1993 and 2004. The Gamecocks have won nine times since 2005, including three straight from 2010-12 and 2016-18.

In South Carolina’s 37-30 win over Mississippi State on Saturday night in Columbia, Spencer Rattler completed 18 of 20 passes for 288 yards. Xavier Legette caught five passes for 189 yards, with a long of 76, and two touchdowns and Trey Knox caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Tennessee’s movement in the rankings
The Vols dropped 12 spots in the AP Top 25 last week, following the 29-16 loss at Florida. They were ranked No. 11 in Week 3 of the AP poll, after the 30-13 win over Austin Peay.
Tennessee moved up one spot to No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches Poll on September 5, after the 49-13 win over Virginia in Nashville, and stayed there in the September 9 Coaches Poll update. The Vols dropped 11 spots last week, to No. 20, in the Coaches Poll after the loss at Florida.
Tennessee was ranked No. 10 in the Coaches Preseason Poll on August 7 and were ranked No. 12 in the AP Top 25 preseason poll.
