Where Tennessee Football is ranked after the 36-23 win at Vanderbilt
Tennessee Football came in at No. 6 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the Coaches Poll on Sunday afternoon, following the 36-23 win at Vanderbilt on Saturday. The Vols moved up one spot in the AP Top 25 and two spots in the Coaches Poll.
Tennessee (10-2, 6-2 SEC) last week moved up three spots in both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll, going up to No. 7 in the AP poll and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll after 56-0 win over UTEP on Senior Day at Neyland Stadium.
Ohio State was ranked No. 2 in both polls last week, before losing 13-10 to unranked Michigan on Saturday afternoon in Columbus. Miami was ranked No. 7 in the Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the AP Top 25 last week, before losing at Syracuse on Saturday.
Ohio State dropped to No. 7 in the AP Top 25 and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll this week. Miami went to No. 14 in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll.
Vols were ranked No. 8 in College Football Playoff Top 25 last week
The Vols were ranked No. 8 in the College Football Top 25 in the new rankings last week and were seeded ninth in the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket.
The playoff rankings and bracket will be updated by the selection committee again on Tuesday night. The official bracket will be set and announced on Sunday at Noon Eastern Time.
ESPN on Saturday night ranked Tennessee No. 7 in its College Football Playoff ranking projection and had the Vols as the No. 9 seed in the bracket, going to No. 8 Ohio State in the first round.

Where Tennessee Football has been ranked this season
Tennessee dropped to No. 10 in the AP Top 25 and No. 11 in the Coaches Poll after the 31-17 loss at Georgia two weeks ago. The College Football Playoff Top 25 followed by dropping the Vols to No. 11 and to the first team out of the 12-team playoff bracket, based on the rankings and projections two weeks ago.
The Vols were ranked No. 7 and seeded No. 8 in the first 12-team playoff bracket projection in November.
Tennessee was also ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25 and No. 5 in the Coaches Poll before the 19-14 loss at Arkansas on October 5, then fell to No. 8 in both polls afterward.
The Vols had made steady climbs early in the season in both rankings after lopsided wins over Chattanooga (69-3), North Carolina State (51-10) and Kent State (71-0) and the 25-15 win at Oklahoma.
The Vols started the year ranked No. 15 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25.
The AP Poll moved Tennessee up to No. 14 in Week 2, No. 7 in Week 3, No. 6 in Week 4 and No. 5 in Week 5. The Coaches Poll had the Vols at No. 12 in Week 2, No. 9 in Week 3, No. 7 in Week 4 and No. 6 in Week 5. The Vols moved up one spot to No. 4 in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll the first open date of the season.
