Four-star OT J.B. Shabazz has Tennessee in final three, sets commitment date

Four-star offensive tackle and Tennessee target J.B. Shabazz has the Vols in his final three and will announce his commitment decision Friday at 6 p.m. Eastern Time on his Instagram account. The other two finalists alongside Tennessee are South Carolina and Ohio State.
Shabazz is a four-star prospect in the On3 ratings, ranked No. 56 nationally, No. 6 among offensive tackles and No. 7 overall in the state of North Carolina, out of East Forsyth High School in Winston Salem, N.C.
Shabazz took an official to visit to Tennessee in June, before visiting Ohio State.
“The people here are amazing,” Shabazz told Volquest after the visit, which was his first at Tennessee. “The people (what stood out). They were just amazing.”
The Vols made his final three after he cut the list down from 10. The other school in his top 10 were Georgia, LSU, Penn State, Auburn, North Carolina State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech
Tennessee up to 17 commitments in 2026 class
His mother accompanied him on the trip to Tennessee, which he said helped Knoxville feel like home for the weekend.
“It was huge,” Shabazz explained. “My mom got to talk to the coaches and she said they made it feel like it was home.”
Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class currently has 17 commitments. The group is ranked No. 14 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC, with a class score of 89.90.
The Vols have added six commitments since June 27: Athlete Legend Bey, cornerback Jamyan Theodore, defensive lineman Darryl Rivers, cornerback Zaydyn Anderson, edge Kedric Golston II and interior offensive lineman Edward Baker.

Quarterback Faizon Brandon headlines 2026 class for Vols
Five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon headlines the group, ranked No. 13 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s the No. 3 quarterback in the class and the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina.
The four-star commitments are linebacker TJ White, offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyreek King, edge rusher Zach Groves, Bey and tight end Carson Sneed.
The On3 ratings have King, out of Knoxville’s Catholic High School, as the No. 75 overall prospect and ranked No. 10 at wide receiver. Osenda is ranked No. 102 nationally and is the No. 9 offensive tackle in the class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Groves, from East Robertson High School in Cross Plains, Tenn., is ranked No. 255 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s the No. 28 edge rusher in the class and the No. 7 in-state prospect.
Sneed is ranked No. 327 overall, is the No. 16 tight end in the country and is the No. 11 in-state prospect, out of Donelson Christian Academy in Nashville.
