Tennessee football class of 2025 quarterback commit George MacIntyre was playing over in East Tennessee Thursday night as Brentwood Academy ran all over Knoxville Catholic 63-26.

It was the fifth win of the season for the Eagles and a crucial Division II Class 3-A East Region victory with contests against Lipscomb Academy and MBA remaining at home to conclude the regular season.

During the game, that was televised live in Knoxville via Rivalry Thursday, the Tennessee pledge completed 14-of-16 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

“It just means a lot,” MacIntyre told Rivalry Thursday postgame. “First game in Knoxville. A team that got us last year. We got our get-back, so it was really good.”

Catholic jumped out early on the second play of the ballgame with an 80-yard touchdown reception from fellow four-star wideout, and Tennessee ’26 target, Tyreek King that put the Irish up 7-0.

MacIntyre and Brentwood Academy immediately answered with an 80-yard pitch and catch of their own on a pass hauled in by rising 2027 wideout Kesean Bowman. The touchdown tied things up at 7-7 not even a minute into the ballgame.

Catholic marched right down the field and was within two yards of retaking the lead when a fumble turned the football over to the Eagles. MacIntyre led the offense down the field and punched it in on a run from the five-yard line.

The Irish answered on their next possession with a chip shot field goal, cutting the deficit to 14-10. King hauled in an explosive play on the same drive to put the offense on the plus side of the 50-yard line.

Leading 21-13 at the half, Brentwood Academy took over in the third quarter and eventually had a running clock in the fourth. A couple of pick-6’s and short fields aided in the onslaught. The fifth touchdown of the ballgame was a beauty from MacIntyre. The quarterback was rolling out to the right and threw a 25-yard dart into the back of the endzone for six more points.

The Eagles are a respectable 5-3 football team at current standing after winning only two games a season ago.

“I would just say guys buying in – buying into the system,” the quarterback, who is on his fourth different offensive coordinator in four years, explained. “I think guys are playing harder this year and everything is staring to come together late inn the season.”

“We have a lot of guys going both ways, but I don’t think it really affects us. I think we’re good. The next two games will be really important going into the playoffs.”

During the show, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was in attendance – standing on the visitor sideline to watch MacIntyre firsthand. The quarterback is planning on being back in Knoxville on Saturday for the Vols and Florida matchup at Neyland Stadium.

“It was great having him [in attendance],” MacIntyre said of Josh Huepel. “I’ll be going to the game to return the favor and watch them play. So, it will be great.”

MacIntyre is the quarterback commit for the Volunteers class of 2025 – one that ranks No. 8 in the country currently according to the On3 Team Rankings. The four-star stands in at 6-foot-6 and 190 pounds. He’s considered the No. 62 player in the class (On3 Industry Rankings) and the top-player in the state of Tennessee.
