Tennessee opens as home favorite for Saturday night's game against South Carolina
Tennessee on Sunday afternoon opened as an 11-favorite for Saturday night’s SEC home against South Carolina at Neyland Stadium, according to Circa Sports. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff and will be televised by SEC Network.
The Vols (3-1, 0-1 SEC) beat UTSA (1-3) 45-14 on Saturday in Knoxville, starting a stretch of three straight home games over four weeks. After facing South Carolina, Tennessee has a bye on October 7, then hosts Texas A&M on October 14.
South Carolina (2-2, 1-1) beat Mississippi State 37-30 Saturday night in Columbia, bouncing back from the 24-14 loss at No. 1 Georgia last week. The Gamecocks led Georgia 14-3 at halftime before the Bulldogs scored 21 unanswered in the second half at Sanford Stadium.

In the 45-14 win over UTSA, Joe Milton completed 18 of 31 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns and ran five times for 89 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game.
The Vols rushed for 303 yards and four touchdowns as a team on 33 attempts, led by sophomore Dylan Sampson’s 11 carries for 139 yards and two scores.
Ramel Keyton caught a 48-yard touchdown pass and Kaleb Webb had an 18-yard touchdown catch of his own.
In South Carolina’s 37-30 win over Mississippi State, Spencer Rattler completed 18 of 20 passes for 288 yards. Xavier Legette caught five passes for 189 yards, with a long of 76, and two touchdowns and Trey Knox caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.

The Gamecocks rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns as a team on 47 attempts, led by Mario Anderson’s 26 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown.
The Series: Tennessee vs. South Carolina
Tennessee has a 28-11-2 record against South Carolina in a series that dates back to 1903. The two teams played just 10 times between 1903 and 1992, but have played every season since then.
The Vols won 12 straight between 1993 and 2004. The Gamecocks have won nine times since 2005, including three straight from 2010-12 and 2016-18.
Tennessee beat South Carolina 45-20 the last time the Gamecocks came to Knoxville, in October 2021 in Year 1 under Josh Heupel. The Vols won 41-21 in 2019. They opened the COVID-shortened season with a 31-27 win at South Carolina in 2020 and lost in Columbia last November.
