Early betting lines released for Tennessee's 2025 season opener vs. Syracuse

Tennessee Football doesn’t play another game for 220 days, but the line for the 2025 season-opener against Syracuse has already been released. The Vols this week opened as a 13.5-point favorite against the Orange, according to FanDuel

Tennessee and Syracuse will meet in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on August 30. The total is set at 55.5. Tennessee is -480 on the money line while Syracuse is +360.

FanDuel has set lines for 10 other games on August 30: Kansas State (-2.5) vs. Iowa State; LSU (+2.5) at Clemson; Texas (+4.5) at Ohio State; Auburn (-1.5) at Baylor; Georgia Tech (-4.5) at Colorado; Alabama (-8.5) at Florida State; TCU (+2.5) at North Carolina; South Carolina (-9.5) at Virginia Tech.

Tennessee’s national title odds and win total set for 2025

Tennessee’s win total for 2025 has been set at 9.5 by FanDuel, with +102 odds on the over and -130 odds on the under. 

Tennessee also has the eighth-best odds to win the national championship, according to FanDuel, tied with Clemson at +1800. Ohio State is the favorite to defend its national title at +450, ahead of Texas and Oregon at +650, then Georgia (+700), Penn State (+850), Notre Dame (+1200) and Alabama (+1600).

Quarterback Nico Iamaleava is one of four players with +1200 odds to win the Heisman Trophy, alongside Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, Penn State quarterback Drew Allar and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith

Texas quarterback Arch Manning and LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier are the early Heisman favorites at +850.

Tennessee went 7-6 against the spread this season while Syracuse went 6-7.

Syracuse finished at No. 20 in AP Top 25 after 10-win season

Syracuse finished at No. 20 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 22 in the Coaches Poll on Tuesday after a 10-3 season under first-year head coach Fran Brown, the former defensive backs coach at Georgia. 

The Orange ended the season with a 52-35 win over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl, a month after beating No. 8 Miami 42-38 at home to deny the Hurricanes a spot in the ACC Championship game and keeping Miami out of the College Football Playoff.

After opening the season in Atlanta against Syracuse, Tennessee hosts ETSU in the home opener at Neyland Stadium on September 6. SEC play starts at home against Georgia on September 13 and UAB comes to Knoxville on September 20. The Vols go to Mississippi State on September 27 in the first SEC road game of the season.

After an open date on October 4, Tennessee hosts Arkansas (October 11) then goes to Alabama (October 18) and Kentucky (October 25). In November the Vols host Oklahoma (November 1) and New Mexico State (November 15), go to Florida (November 22) and close the regular-season schedule at home against Vanderbilt (November 29).
