NCAA Transfer Portal targets who have visited Tennessee so far
Tennessee Football has hosted three visitors out of the NCAA Transfer Portal so far, with a clear early focus on the offensive and defensive lines. The weekend visitors included LSU defensive tackle Jay’viar Suggs, Arizona offensive lineman Wendall Moe and Wisconsin defensive lineman James Thompson Jr.
The NCAA Transfer Portal officially opened on December 9 and will remain open until December 28. So far eight Tennessee scholarship players have entered the portal over the last week and one has committed to a new school, with wide receiver Kaleb Webb headed to Wake Forest.
Tennessee last season added 10 players out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, including corner Jermod McCoy, offensive tackle Lance Heard, tight end Miles Kitselman, wide receiver Chris Brazzell, defensive lineman Jaxson Moi and defensive back Jalen McMurray.
Jav’viar Suggs

Jay’viar Suggs had three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and 10 total tackles in 12 games at LSU this season. He spent the previous two years at Grand Valley State in Michigan, where he played in 23 total games, recorded 42 tackles and had 14.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
He had 14 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and five sacks in 11 games at Grand Valley State last season and seven tackles for loss and two sacks in 12 games in 2022. Suggs is a native of Flint, Mich., where he attended Clarkston High School.

Wendall Moe

Wendall Moe appeared in all 13 games on Arizona’s offensive line during the 2023 season, part of an offense that finished 20th in total offense (448.0), eighth in passing offense (308.3) and 18th in scoring offense in the nation (34.6 ppg).
Moe made three starts and appeared in four games as a freshman at Arizona in 2022. He played at Long Beach Poly High School. Moe was a three-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class.
James Thompson Jr.
Redshirt Senior | Defensive Line | 6-5, 290
James Thompson Jr. missed the 2024 season with a torn pectoral muscle. He played in 41 games over the last five seasons at Wisconsin, totaling 59 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. He had 23 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks in 2022 and 29 tackles, six tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks in 2023.
Thompson was a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class out of Roger Bacon in Cincinnati.
