Trevon Flowers writes thank you note to Vols coaches, teammates, fans
After Trevon Flowers’ Tennessee career came to an end with the Vols’ 31-14 win over Clemson in the Capital One Orange Bowl, the senior defensive back penned a thank you note to his coaches, teammates and Tennessee fans.
Flowers, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound defender out of Atlanta, Ga., played in 11 games this season, finishing with 57 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks. He had two interceptions, a pass deflected and two forced fumbles.
The thank you message message was posted on Instagram by Flowers on Saturday:
“First and foremost I would like to thank God who has blessed me beyond belief. He has allowed me to play the game I love at the University I love, and for that I am forever grateful. I am also blessed to be surrounded by such love and support from my mom and family. You mean the world to me.
“Tennessee means everything to me. Tennessee took a chance on me as a kid who played just one year of high school football but aspired to play at the top of the collegiate game. Now, I can say with my whole heart that I gave my all for Tennessee every day.
“To the coaches who have guided me along the way, both Coach Heupel and Coach Pruitt, I thank you. I grew a lot in my time on Rocky Top, as a man, as a leader and as a player, and you were the driving force behind that. I feel confident that I will be able to go out in to the world as a leader because of what you taught me.
“And to my teammates, it has been an honor and a privilege to play alongside you. We created memories that will last a lifetime and we did it together. I am humbled that you all entrusted me to be a captain of this team and the future of this program looks brighter and brighter every single day with the work you all put into it.
“I am excited to pursue a career in pro football as I begin the process of getting ready for the NFL Draft, but Tennessee will forever be home sweet home to me.”
