It’s Homecoming on The Hill with Tennessee football (6-2) set to host UConn (1-7) on Saturday at Neyland Stadium. The game is scheduled for a at Noon Eastern Time and will be televised by SEC Network.

The Vols last week won 33-27 over Kentucky at Kroger Field, bouncing back from the 34-20 loss at Alabama two weeks ago. UConn lost 21-14 at Boston College a week after losing 24-21 to South Florida at home two weeks ago.

The Huskies started the season with five straight losses — against North Carolina State, Georgia State, Florida International, Duke and Utah State — before beating Rice on the road, 38-31, two weeks ago.

Tennessee on Sunday opened as a 30-point favorite for Saturday’s game, according to Circa Sports, with the line growing to as much as 35.5 points as of Thursday.

A Closer Look

UConn, coming off a 21-14 loss at Boston College on Saturday, picked up its first win of the season on October 7, beating Rice on the road 38-31. The Huskies started the season 0-5 with losses to North Carolina State (24-14), Georgia State (35-14), Florida International (24-17), Duke (41-7) and Utah State (34-33).

Jim Mora is in his second season as UConn’s head coach, after leading the Huskies to a 6-7 record and an appearance in the Myrtle Beach Bowl last season. Mora went 46-30 in six seasons as UCLA’s head coach (2012-17) and went 31-33 in four seasons as an NFL head coach with the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks.

UConn led 7-0 in the first quarter at Boston College on Saturday, only to see BC score 21 unanswered points, taking control in the second half.

UConn quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson completed 11 of 24 passes for 130 yards, without a touchdown or interception in the loss. Camryn Edwards rushed 16 times for 89 yards and a touchdown as the Huskies went for 92 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns as a team. Geordon Porter caught three passes for 47 yards.
