Transitioning From Tennessee Football Fall Camp...who Is Above Or Below The Line I Volquest I Gbo

Tennessee Football fans won’t have to wait long to see the newest edition of the Smokey Grey uniforms on the field. The Vols will wear the new-look alternate uniform next Saturday against Chattanooga in the season opener at Neyland Stadium.

The Vols and Mocs are scheduled for a 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time start on SEC Network.

Tennessee in July announced the new Smokey Grey uniform design, which pays tribute to the Volunteer State. The jersey features the Tri-Star logo on the sleeve, Tennessee across the chest and an altered helmet stripe and pants stripe.

“Three stars that define us,” the Vols wrote in the uniform release. “Three stars that unite us. An ode to the Volunteer State.”

The grey jersey has orange numbers outlined in white below the Tennessee word mark across the chest — the first home jersey have Tennessee across the chest — and a Power T logo on the collar. A white stripe was added to the orange helmet stripe and three white stars are on the back of the helmet stripe, in tribute to the stripe and stars on the Tennessee state flag.

The Tri-Star circle logo patch on the sleeve is in orange, with white stars and the circle outlined in white. The helmet stripe is mirrored on the pants, with a white stripe added to the side of the orange pants stripe and three stars at the bottom.

The pants also feature the state on the hip with the Tri-Star logo.

Vols introduced ‘Smokey Grey Series’ in 2022

Tennessee in August 2022 announced the Smokey Grey Series , with the Vols bringing back the alternate uniform with a new iteration of the set each season through 2025, “with the potential to scale beyond those years.”

The Smokey Grey uniform, introduced in 2013 and remodeled after the switch to Nike in 2015, features a grey helmet with a Smokey Mountains pattern in shades of grey behind the orange Power T and orange helmet stripe.

Last season the Smokey Grey alternate paid homage to former Tennessee quarterback Condredge Holloway with orange around the neck and shoulders of the jersey, a silver facemark with a thinner orange helmet stripe and two orange stripes on the pants, all from the Tennessee uniform worn during the Holloway era. There was also a new white trim around the orange jersey numbers to go with the Smokey Grey pants and helmet.
