Tennessee football is bringing out the orange pants for Saturday’s home game against UTSA. The Vols announced on social media on Thursday morning that they’ll be wearing white helmets, orange jerseys and orange pants against the visiting Roadrunners.

No. 23 Tennessee (2-1) and UTSA (1-2) will kick off at 4 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday at Neyland Stadium. The game will be broadcast by SEC Network.

The Vols wore their Smokey Grey ‘Artful Dodger’ alternate uniform in the 30-13 win over Austin Peay on September 2 in the home opener. They wore white helmets, orange jersey and white pants — the traditional home look — in the 49-13 win over Virginia on September 2 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Tennessee wore white helmets, white jerseys and white pants in the 29-16 loss to Florida Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.

The Smokey Grey Series

Tennessee debuted the newest edition of The Smokey Grey series on Saturday in the 30-13 win over Austin Peay, wearing the ‘Artful Dodger’ version of the alternate uniform, paying homage to Condredge Holloway.

The look featured orange shoulders on the grey jersey, a white outline of the orange jersey number, two orange stripes on the grey pants and a grey facemask and thinner orange helmet stripe, all features from the away uniform worn during the Holloway era in the early 1970s.

In August 2022 Tennessee announced the return of the Smokey Grey alternate uniform, which was first worn during the 2013 season but was not worn between 2018 and 2021.

The Vols announced the return of the alternate uniform while also adding that a new version of the uniform would be worn at least once over the next four seasons and that there was “potential to scale beyond those years.”
