Kickoff time, TV information announced for Tennessee's regular-season finale vs. Vanderbilt

Tennessee’s regular-season finale against Vanderbilt next Saturday will be an 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time start time at Neyland Stadium and the game will be televised by SEC Network. The Southeastern Conference announced kickoff times for Week 13 on Monday afternoon.

The Vols (7-3, 3-3 SEC), coming off the 36-7 loss at Missouri on Saturday, host No. 1 Georgia (10-0, 7-0) on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS) at Neyland Stadium.

Vanderbilt (2-9, 0-7) is off this week before finishing the regular season in Knoxville. The Commodores have lost nine straight games: at Wake Forest; at UNLV; Kentucky; Missouri; at Florida; Georgia; at Ole Miss; Auburn; at South Carolina.

A Closer Look

Vanderbilt’s current losing streak after starting the season 2-0 with wins over Hawaii and Alabama A&M. Vandy lost 47-6 at South Carolina on Saturday.

Quarterback AJ Swann has missed the last three games with an elbow contusion. He passed for 1,290 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interception before the injury. He had completed 53.8% of his passes and had been sacked nine times.

Ken Seals has replaced Swann, passing for 1,122 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 57.6% of his passes with 13 sacks.

Sedrick Alexander and Patrick Smith are the leading rushers, with Alexander running fro 325 yards and four touchdowns on 85 carries and Smith rushing 70 times for 300 yards and two touchdowns. Will Shepperd his the leading receiver with 640 yards and eight touchdowns. London Humphreys has 19 catches for 413 yards and four touchdowns.

The Series

Tennessee leads the all-time series against Vanderbilt 79-33-5 dating back to 1892. Of those 33 wins for Vandy, 18 of them came between 1892 and 1926. The Vols hired General Robert Neyland as head coach and athletic director in 1926 in hopes of turning around the rivalry with Vanderbilt. Since 1927 Tennessee has won 77 of 95 games against the Commodores. 

From 1983 to 2004, Tennessee won 22 straight in the series and, at the time, it was the second-longest winning streak for one school against another in college football. 

The Vols won six straight after the home loss to Vanderbilt in 2005, but dropped five of seven between 2012 and 2018. Tennessee has won the last four games against Vanderbilt — 56-0 last season, 45-21 in 2021, 42-17 in 2020 and 28-10 in 2019 — by an average of 30.8 points per game.
