Tennessee Football’s win total for the 2025 season has been set at 9.5, according to FanDuel. The Vols are -130 to finish under 9.5 wins and +102 to finish over 9.5 wins.

The win total entering the 2024 season was nine wins, with the Vols finishing 10-3, making the 12-team College Football Playoff as the No. 9 seed. The season ended in a 42-17 loss at Ohio State at Ohio Stadium on December 21.

Tennessee has won 30 games over the last three seasons, going 11-2 in 2022, 9-4 in 2023 and 10-3 this season.

Tennessee has eighth-best odds to win 2025 national championship

Tennessee also has the eighth-best odds to win the national championship, according to FanDuel, tied with Clemson at +1800. Ohio State is the favorite to defend its national title at +450, ahead of Texas and Oregon at +650, then Georgia (+700), Penn State (+850), Notre Dame (+1200) and Alabama (+1600).

After opening the season in Atlanta against Syracuse, Tennessee hosts ETSU in the home opener at Neyland Stadium on September 6. SEC play starts at home against Georgia on September 13 and UAB comes to Knoxville on September 20. The Vols go to Mississippi State on September 27 in the first SEC road game of the season.

After an open date on October 4, Tennessee hosts Arkansas (October 11) then goes to Alabama (October 18) and Kentucky (October 25). In November the Vols host Oklahoma (November 1) and New Mexico State (November 15), go to Florida (November 22) and close the regular-season schedule at home against Vanderbilt (November 29).

FanDuel also set Heisman Trophy odds, with Nico Iamaleava tied for the second-lowest odds.

He is one of four players with +1200 odds to win the Heisman Trophy, alongside Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, Penn State quarterback Drew Allar and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith

Texas quarterback Arch Manning and LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier are the early Heisman favorites at +850.

Vols ranked No. 13 in On3’s Way-Too-Early Top 25

On3’s Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman on Monday had Tennessee at No. 13 in their Way-Too-Early Top 25 for the 2025 season.

Texas came in at No. 1 ahead of No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 Notre Dame. Georgia was ranked No. 6, Illinois was No. 7, South Carolina was No. 8, Florida was No. 9 and Clemson was No. 10. Also ahead of the Vols were No. 11 Auburn and No. 12 Michigan.

“The Volunteers lose a lot of talent from their defensive line,” Staples wrote, “but they were absurdly deep. Joshua Josephs (nine tackles for loss in 2024) takes over for James Pearce Jr. at the LEO edge rusher position. Tackle Jaxson Moi was supposed to redshirt 2024, but the Vols couldn’t keep him off the field.

“As the Ohio State loss highlighted, QB Nico Iamaleava needs some dynamic targets to emerge. Can sophomore Mike Matthews be that guy?”
