About The Starters
RHP Drew Beam – outing complete – WINNING PITCHER
Tennessee’s third starter was marvelous out of the gate – perfect through his first 11 batters with six strikeouts. Beam finally faced some adversity in the fourth allowing back-to-back singles, but induced a groundout to exit the threat. Beam allowed base runners in just two of his six innings of work, facing the minimum five times. The righty finished his outing throwing 86 pitches – 60 for strikes – and induced nine ground ball outs compared to just two fly outs. Allowing only three hits on the day – Beam was a star on Sunday.
Tennessee Bullpen: Bryce Jenknis (1.0 IP, 0 R), Zander Sechrist (0.1 IP, 0 R), Jake Bimbi (0.0, 0 R), Zach Joyce (0.2, 0 R), Aaron Combs (1.0, 0 R)
RHP Michael Mitchell – outing complete
The Tritons’ starter was good in three innings on the mound. After not pitching in nearly two years, the righty kept the Vols scoreless in the first third of the game, allowing only two hits with four strikeouts. Mitchell walked one batter and totaled 39 pitches on the night with 22 strikes. While facing 10 batters, Mitchell induced three ground outs and one double-play.
UCSD Bullpen: Donovan Chriss (L,1.0 IP, 2 R), Izaak Martinez (3.0 IP, 5 R), Spencer Seid (1.0, 0 R)
