Knoxville native Jacob Warren will return for his final year of eligibility at Tennessee. The Farragut alum announced his decision on social media on Wednesday at noon.
Warren has developed into an all-around tight end and paired up nicely with senior Princeton Fant to form one of the top tight end tandems in the SEC in this past season.
Coming off a state championship season his final year in high school, Warren followed in his father’s footsteps as his dad, James, played for the Vols in the early 1990s.
An honor student in the classroom who earned his degree from Tennessee in May 2021, Warren is a member of the team’s leadership council and four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
This past season, Warren was slowed by injury which haunted some of his preparation but he will still effective.
Warren started and hauled in two receptions for 34 yards in the win over Missouri and he had a season-high three catches for 21 yards at #3 Georgia in early November.

He hauled in a career-long 45-yard catch in UT’s win over #20 Florida back in September that sparked a touchdown drive in the fourth quarter as the Vols took down the Gators 38-33.
Warren will mentor new additions to tight end room
Tennessee moved fast with former UC-Davis tight end McCallan Castles, offering the 6-foot-6, 245-pound athlete this week and getting a quick commitment response shortly after. The former FCS player, who signed with Cal out of high school, chose Tennessee in early December.
He joins high school prospect Ethan Davis who signed with the Vols last month as new additions to the tight end room.
Davis is also nursing an upper-body injury that sidelined him for most of his senior campaign.
The Vols saw former four-star tight end Miles Campbell enter the transfer portal. Tennessee didn’t have a guaranteed body (outside of Davis who will be a true freshman) to count on at tight end for next season, before the commitment of Castles.
