The Tennessee baseball team is set to be back in action this Sunday in West Tennessee. The Vols will play their final exhibition contest of the fall slate on Sunday at 2pm eastern time against the Memphis Tigers in Jackson, Tenn. at the Jackson Baseball Stadium.

Tony Vitello met with the media Thursday morning to breakdown the fall slate and to preview the upcoming matchup with the Tigers.

Tennessee has been hard at work over the fall practice session with plenty of intrasquad scrimmages throughout the month of October. The Vols took on Wake Forest back on October 9 during their first exhibition play, defeating the Demon Deacons 13-9 in a combined 18 innings of work.

During the showcase, ace Chase Dollander tossed a scoreless first inning – striking out the side to work around a one-out walk. Sophomore Christian Moore hit a pair of solo home runs while newcomer Dylan Drieling also homered in the first game.

Kavares Tears highlighted the action in the second nine-inning leg of the day, launching a grand slam into the bullpen beyond right field. Charlie Taylor, Logan Chambers, Alex Stanwich and Ryan Miller also drove in runs during Tennessee exhibition win over Wake Forest.

The Volunteers will return to Knoxville following Sunday’s exhibition with Memphis to take part in the annual Fall World Series at Lindsey nelson Stadium next week. First pitch of the series will be Thursday, November 10 with games two and three to follow on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Admission to all Fall World Series games will be free of charge.

Tennessee was a two-time SEC champion in 2022 and won a program record 57 games. The Vols were tabbed as the top-seed entering the NCAA Tournament field of play, but stalled out in Game three of the Super Regionals to Notre Dame.

Aces Wild: Catching up with Tennessee’s ‘Big 3’

At the beginning of the fall session for the Volunteers, Volquest caught up with Tennessee starting pitchers Chase Dollander, Chase Burns and Drew Beam. During the sit down, the trio discussed the offseason training, eagerness for the new season and reflected on the highlights of the 2022 campaign.

The three combined to go 26-3 in 2022.
